This is something Ellesia and I wrote up last night, and we liked the idea, so I'm putting it up here I'm pretty sure she wouldn't mind anyone joining. It takes place in the Dragonriders of Pern series of books, by Anne McCaffery, but it's also a mild free-play in that both of us have something unique about our characters. Here is Ellesia's bio: Here is Saya's bio: Ellesia's starting post: --------- Ues stood on the hot sands with confidence. She glanced at the boys around her. They didn’t have the dedication and desire that she had. They thought she was like them for her appearance, but she was so much more… The first eggs began to wobble and break free. She would have one of the hatchlings. She was sure and unafraid even as those around her were beginning to cower. The first egg broke fully to reveal a blue. Ues stared at it intently. “Do you approve of me?” she thought at it as it made it’s way forward. It rejected her and feebly went to the boy next to her. “Fine… I guess he is more interesting for his parts. Whatever.” She thought with mild distain. Risa: Several minutes passed with no dragon hatching coming to her even for a second. “Dragons can not be this sexist,” she thought getting impatient. When she could take no more she took a few steps forward toward the eggs. A large on near her shook violently. Ues did not flinch. She could hear it’s cries from inside the thick shell. Was it stuck? She waited. The world around her stopped. “Hurry up,” she told it bending down next to it, “I’m waiting for you. You are much stronger than that stupid little shell.” It shook with more urgency and put a large crack down the center. “Very good,” Ues said tapping the egg, “Now for the rest. Come on now.” The world made a sudden noise at her. Yelling? She looked up. It seemed they didn’t want her that close to the egg now. “It’s mine,” she said “It’s mine,” she said tonelessly, “I can hear it. This egg and it’s contents are mine.” They continued to complain, but at that moment the dragon broke free of it’s egg. A bronze dragon emerged and shook itself awkwardly. “I am Peredith, and I am yours… Lucky you, right?” It sounded very smug. “Yes, lucky me,” she responded with a smile, “Sure I wanted a blue, but you have my personality, so I’ll forgive you.”

Actually, I do mind people joining this one.
I wanted something just for the two of us to start with.
I'll let people join in later, but for now I'd really prefer they didn't butt in.
Terribly sorry everyone, but I'm going to hog Saya for this one.
Please feel free to make up detailed Biographies and be ready for the next thread. (Uh... No pun intended.)
Modified Bio
Name: Ues Gender: Female Age: 15
Description:
Ues has short light brown hair that is often messy and unkempt. Her eye color is a flat grey which is considered unreadable by her family, they often complain that they can never tell what she is thinking because her eyes are so spiritless. She is somewhat short standing at 4 foot 9 inches, but she is still growing. Ues is very lanky and considers her body to be perfect for a Rider.
Ues is often being told that she looks like a boy, which is exactly the reaction she wants. Anyone outside her family assumes she is male. She has no definition in her figure that would suggest otherwise, unless of course one happened to catch her in the middle of changing... Which would in all probability rarely happen. Ues wraps herself down to make herself appear flat. If she were to dress like a woman she would be very attractive, figure wise, but that’s her mother’s opinion not hers.
Ues has a very confident attitude when it comes to her personal ambitions. She is always "strutting" around staking her claim to things. However, in certain situations she plays up this attitude for the benefit and trickery of others. She is always trying to act as manly as possible so she tends to overreact and overact certain characteristic. This can lead to some awfully interesting results at times.
Ues' goal in life is to obtain a dragon, but she does not want a Gold for that brings too much unwanted attention and responsibility with it. She has dreams of getting a Blue dragon for that is her favorite color, and their size is rather small. While she is still fairly young, her attitude and general knowledge of dragons has gained her a spot as a Canditate for a Hatching.
Beasties: She also has 3 fire lizards, one Gold named Prinsaw, a Blue called Nicholst, and a Green called Serember. She often is surrounded by her Lizard family and often has one of them running some sort of errand for her. She treats the lizards like siblings rather than pets.
Her family also owns a Watch Wher and Ues has no real attachment to the brown beast, although she does sometimes refer to it as Gordie, a take on Guardian.
(Notes: I’m docking her age by one year because 15 is what I originally thought I had put down…)
Modified Post
Ues stood on the hot sands with confidence. She glanced at the boys around her. They didn’t have the dedication and desire that she had. They thought she was like them for her appearance, but she was so much more…
The first eggs began to wobble and break free. She would have one of the hatchlings. Ues was sure and unafraid even as those around her were beginning to cower.
Several minutes passed with no dragon hatching coming to her even for a second.
“Dragons cannot be this sexist,” she thought getting impatient. When she could take no more, Ues took a few steps forward toward the eggs. A large one near her shook violently. Ues did not flinch. She could hear it’s cries from inside the thick shell. Was it stuck?
She waited.
The world around her stopped.
“Hurry up,” she told it bending down next to it, “I’m waiting for you. You are much stronger than that stupid little shell.” Hearing her, it shook with more urgency and put a large crack down the center.
“Very good,” Ues said tapping the egg along the crack, “Now for the rest. Come on now.”
The world made a sudden noise at her. Yelling? She looked up. It seemed they didn’t want her that close to the eggs now.
“It’s mine,” she said tonelessly, “I can hear it. This egg and it’s contents are mine. Be silent.”
They continued to complain, but at that moment the dragon broke free of it’s egg.
A bronze dragon emerged and shook itself awkwardly. It crooned and looked at Ues with it's beautiful blue eyes.
I am Peredith, and I am yours… Lucky you, right? It sounded very smug, it was as if it knew it was the most perfect dragon ever born...
“Yes, lucky me,” she responded with an uncharacteristic smile, “Sure I wanted a blue, but you have my personality, so I’ll forgive you.”
You are very pretty Ues, you should show off more, it rubbed against her, I love you and I expect you to feed me now.
Ues placed her fingertips on Peredth's soft nose, "Your complements fall on deaf ears. I'll feed you now, but only because I am just as hungry as you..."
She helped her dragon to it's feet and together they wobbled and swayed their way off away from the rest of the Egg clutch, of which only a few dud eggs and the Queen eggs remained. Peredth proved to be quite steady on his feet stumbling only once because his wings were in the way. Ues couldn't have been more proud.
They were almost off of the Hot sands when a voice called and caught her attention...

((*chuckles* Alright then, I'm hogged A girl with a bronze? Oh that could get....ah...interesting XD)) C'noram sat on the ledge reserved for the dragons to sit and watch the Hatching, next to his beloved Elgrode. Elgrode was humming along with the rest of the dragons, providing the resonance needed to help the little hatchlings break out of their shells. Dorna and Moro were perched on C'noram's lap and shoulder, respectively.
He smiled, watching as each new rider led his or her stumbling dragon away from the Sands, remembering his own Hatching, where he met Elgrode.
Suddenly the stands erupted in yells of shock as one of the Candidates strode forward and knelt next to an egg. C'noram leaped to his feet, earning a disapproving squawk from Dorna, who was unceremoniously dumped to the stone ledge from the movement.
What is that lad thinking?! he thought. Didn't D'lan tell him to stay put on the Sands until he was Impressed? C'noram looked toward the entrance to the Hatching Grounds, where stood the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman, D'lan and Lyra. What if he upsets Ryoath?! ((pronounced 'ree-oh-ath')) C'noram looked worriedly at the golden queen standing protectively over her precious eggs.
A gorgeous bronze suddenly broke out of the egg and stared longingly at the lad kneeling next to him, and all present knew that, for better or for worse, Impression had been made. The lad reached out to the dragon gently, then led him after the other newly Impressed lads. C'noram watched worriedly, staring at both the new rider and D'lan.Gilarith says his rider is going to talk to the new rider, and for us not to worry.Elgrode's soothing voice flooded C'noram's mind through their telepathic bond. C'noram nodded and watched as D'lan approached the lad near the entrance to the Sands.((did you want me to NPC D'lan or do you want to do it?))

((Man, if you don't post soon, I might just keep adding onto this...))
"If you disobey orders now," it was D'lan the Weyrleader who was addressing Ues, "Are you going to be able to get in line when it comes to your first Threadfall?" He sounded annoyed, but not all together angry.
"I assure you, Weyrleader D'lan," Ues gave a slight bow as she spoke, "My loyalty is to Pern. Peredith and I will work very hard. If you'll excuse me..." She turned to walk away and get her dragon its meal.
D'lan wasn't finished talking, "Hang on..." he reached out and snagged Ues' arm.
Ues' eyes went wide and her face twisted with sharp annoyance, if not outright fear. She shrugged her shoulders upward and wrenched her arm out of D'lan's grasp as if he was the most disgusting person alive. Peredith knew why Ues' was upset, and he showed his own disapproval with his eyes glimmering an unhappy red.
I'll bite him, Peredith suggested easily.
Ues glanced at her dragon with a look of mild amusement stating wordlessly through their link that it was alright. Yet her attention did not return to D'lan, and she continued attempting to walk away.
D'lan was confused by the boy's reaction, and he was getting angry. Before D'lan had the chance to respond to the unruly young rider, Gilarith told him something that silenced his concerns for the moment. "Well, enjoy your meal lads," he said after Ues and her brilliant dragon with a grin, "I completely understand your position. My dragon gets terribly sharp when he's hungry. I'll catch you later."
Ues held up her hand in a slight wave showing that she heard D'lan as she left the hot sands.
"I do not like him." Ues thought to Peredith with a frown. She buried the urge to shudder and composed herself back into her regular persona.
You don't like any man Ues. Peredith responded simply. Then with more ferocity, Food now! Hurry, hurry! They arrived at the bowls and Ues handed the bronze dragon hatchling a small lump which vanished in seconds. This process continued until Peredith's ravenous calls silenced. He had consumed quite a lot of food and Ues smiled with pride. A good appetite was very healthy for a young dragon.
A few of the other new riders tried to approach Ues, but she ignored them. They walked off shaking their heads. Ues had no time for the likes of them.
"Do you want to be oiled now?" she asked her dragon when she noticed he was completely dry.
Yes. I feel all scratchy. Peredith said glancing at his wings.
Ues went to fetch some oil and quickly began spreading it evenly over all of the itchy spots before getting at the places that had yet to become overly dry.
At this moment Prinsaw, Nicholst, and Serember made their grand entrances.
Peredith looked at the Fire Lizards with great interest and amusement.
"These are your cousins!" Ues announced with a grin, "I had to make them stay out of the sands during the hatching, but there's no reason they couldn't be here now."
Ooh, I like them very much. Peredith said happily as the three miniature dragons flitted around him. They kept passing happy little images to both Ues and the young bronze.
The oiling took a few minutes longer, and soon Ues felt incredibly tired. She yawned thickly. It came as no great surprise to her, but this revelation prompted an interesting statement from Peredith. I'm dying for today. he said looking at Ues with lazy eyes.
"You aren't dying silly!" she said leading her dragon to a quiet place where they could rest, "You're just going to sleep. You'll wake up in the morning feeling very good and comfortable..." She tried to shake the feeling of anxiousness that she always felt before getting ready for bed.
Oh, I think that's much nicer than dying... Peredith made himself cozy and started drifting off. Golden Prinsaw took her place atop Peredith's head and promptly fell asleep. While the green and blue, Serember and Nicholst, landed on Ues' shoulders wrapping their slender tails around her arms protectively. Ues spent as long as she could admiring her dragon family, but she was lulled into the dream lands as well. As she was falling asleep she couldn't help but smile.
----- ----- ----- ----- -----
Despite falling asleep with happiness in her heart, her inner memories and feelings had their way with her subconsciousness.
Ues was aware of a familiar choking panic, even though she recognized the scene as being within the realm of dreams. She wanted to scream. She wanted to run, but she couldn't breathe let alone move. Darkness surrounded her vision, but she knew what was going on. She knew she was, and who else was there... It was a nightmare that had haunted her for all of her life. She'd never been able to understand where it came from or why it plagued her.
Then Ues heard someone speaking, a voice that was new the re-occuring nightmare.
"Look around Ues, this place isn't real. It's just a dream, so you don't need to be scared." The voice was calm and even.
"Peredith?" Ues wanted to cry with relief.
"Yes. I am with you." And then Ues could see him.
They stood together in a white field of nothingness. She could relax.
The smile that was unusual for Ues returned.
----- ----- ----- ----- -----
Hours later, Ues awoke. It was not because she was done sleeping, but because something was rousing her. There was a voice. Try as she might to ignore it there was no hope. She wanted to go back to sleep, after all it was the first time she'd had something in her life that stopped her from having nightmares...
Her eyes peeped open slightly. It was dark. Who would be waking her up at this hour?
It took her a moment to remember her surroundings and the events of earlier that day.
She looked behind her at Peredith who continued to sleep without a care. With the exception of blue Nicholst, who always awoke the moment she did, the fire Lizards slept as well. Ues was always amazed with Serember's ability to sleep and remain fixed to her arm. Prinsaw despite being an eloquent queen had fallen off her perch and now lay resting splayed out on Peredith's muzzle.
The single voice that had awoken Ues from her slumber turned into voices. Was it an argument or just a slightly too loud conversation? She was unsure, as the people talking weren't fully within earshot... Ues stood up slowly and looked around. She'd fallen asleep in a ring of other new riders. Several were snoring, but all were asleep and not bothered by the noise.
Ues made her way across the darkened room towards the small patch of glow light in the hall. She was close enough to make out the words...

"Why though?" Said K'tagh, one of D'lan's Wingleaders, as they stopped walking through the hall. "Why are you allowing this?"
"Yes, I agree. A girl with a bronze is very...odd." This was F'ram, another Wingleader. "I think we should consult the other Weyrs on this, D'lan."
D'lan sighed, rubbing his temples. "My decision is made, but if you all insist so strongly, then fine. However-" He stated loudly to forestall the budding comments from his staff. He waited for them to quiet down, then continued. "However, it will wait until they've learned to go between. I will not inconvenience my fellow Weyrleaders any more than necessary. Understood?"
They continued along the hallway, not noticing that one of the doors was slightly ajar. Except for C'noram, Wingsecond to P'ryen, the only Wingleader to remain silent throughout the whole exchange. C'noram saw the slightly lanky silhouette, almost invisible, just behind the crack in the door, and winked at it, smiling slightly as he walked by.

"Shells," she thought, "Shells, shells, shells, shells, shells!"
She'd been found out, but how?!
Her mouth fell open in shock. This was unacceptable. She'd prove them all wrong.
"However, it will wait until they've learned to go between. I will not inconvenience my fellow Weyrleaders any more than necessary. Understood?"
Between huh? Yes. She would prove them all wrong.
As she stared, someone caught her eye. Someone saw her, they winked at her and smiled.
Ues fell over in shock.
A resounding thud echoed in the room. Peredith's voice spoke almost mockingly in her mind, I wouldn't have done that. A few of the other dragons made a noise to suggest waking, but fortunately they did not. However, those already awake clearly heard the noise.
"Shells..." Ues said softly under her breath.

C'noram wasn't the only one to spin around at the loud thud! the echoed down the hall. Now, why did she have to do that? I was just trying to lay her mind at ease! he thought, slightly annoyed. He was the first at the door, since he'd been walking at the back of the group with the other Wingseconds. C'noram slowly pushed the door open and peered at the lanky figure sprawled on the floor, then glanced around, first at the other riders peering around sleepily, then behind him as D'lan walked up.
"All right, that's enough playing around. You all should still be sleeping, you'll need all your strength tomorrow!" D'lan smiled, winked, and left, chuckling.
C'noram glanced around again, smiling, then also winked and turned to leave. He saluted the figure still on the floor as he closed the door and caught up with the rest of the group.

Ues blushed heavily.
"He's trying to make me blow my cover," she thought bitterly, "I know it."
She made her way back over to Peredith who had his own take on the matter, You like him. He's nice.
"WHAT?! I do not!" she clasped her hands over her mouth but it was too late.
----- ----- ----- ----- -----
The next morning Ues got up before everyone else and had Peredith fed, oiled, and ready.
I don't get why you think you have to prove anything Ues, he said while playfully snipping at Prinsaw and the other fire lizards, We have each other isn't that enough?
"N-no..." she knew he was right but her stubbornness got the better of her, "I am better than all of these stupid men and they have to see that."
By hiding as a man yourself? That doesn't prove a thing. This prompted a sharp glare from Ues, You know I'm right.
"I don't care," she stomped her foot for emphasis.
-----
It was almost time for the first lessons. Ues stood with the other new riders, waiting.

C'noram emerged from his weyr-room into the bright morning sunlight and stretched luxuriously. He looked around and smiled - he'd never want to live anywhere but his precious Southern Weyr. Right next to the sea so the Dragons and fire lizards could bathe and swim in comfort, and the surrounding jungles inland full of fruits and plants. And the Threadfighting was said to be easy, as the whole continent was covered in a strange species of grub that actually ate Thread, so as long as they were thorough in the air, the groundcreews wouldn't have much of a challenge.
He looked back into the weyr at Elgrode, still asleep, then started the several-minute walk toward the beach, accompanied by Dorna and Moro. They were eager for a swim and some fish, and he hadn't been able to take a bath yesterday.
C'noram stopped for a moment and glanced over near the center of the Weyr, where the new riders and their dragons were gathered. He smiled slightly and walked over towards the kitchens, waving his fire lizards away to the ocean to fish.
He came out of the kitchens with a small platter of sandwiches and a large mug of fresh fruit juice, and sat on one of the benches just outside the kitchen to eat his breakfast and watch in amusement as the new riders struggled to feed and oil their baby dragons.
As the trainees came back out of their barracks from seeing to their dragons' napping comfort, C'noram walked over to the strange lad who walked apart from the rest of the group.
"You've had quite an interesting few days here, haven't you?" He asked quietly, chuckling slightly. C'noram held out his hand to shake, and smiled as he spoke. "I'm C'noram. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."

Ues' desire to prove herself worthy of her dragon drove her to remain distant from others. She had hardly spoken to any of her fellow trainees, and only spoke to her superiors when it was necessary. She was clearly a capable student, having learned perfectly everything they'd been taught so far. Luckily for her, none of the Higher-ups had told anyone that she was a girl, and as such, her fellow trainees didn't treat her any differently.
With Peredith fed, oiled, and napping, Ues had planned to slink off outside to relax in the shade with her fire lizards. They needed the attention badly, but of course someone had to walk up to her at that precise moment.
"You've had quite an interesting few days here, haven't you?" he said with a soft laugh, "I'm C'noram. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."
Ues shook C'noram's hand even though she normally would have preferred not to. Recognizing the man from a few nights ago during her failed attempt at spying she decided to play the polite route in order to make a better impression on him.
"Yes," she said trying to hide her lack of conversation interest, "Things certainly are interesting. Peredith and I are fairing well enough on our own, I'd say. I will keep you in mind should I need help with something though."
Ues wondered how she'd get out of the conversation, she was sure this man wanted to actually talk.
Without warning Prinsaw appeared at her side. "Uh..." she stared at her lizards incredulously, "These fire lizards are mine, they are Prinsaw and Serember..." Earlier that morning Ues' had given strict orders to her fire lizards to remain away during her training. She didn't want anyone to know that she had fire lizards just yet, and now it was blown.
"I have another one, a blue, called Nicholst," she almost added 'but he's not here because unlike these silly girls, he listens to his orders.'
"Ooh," cried one of her fellow trainees behind her, "You are really lucky to have fire lizards too! No wonder you have a such a nice dragon!"
Ues looked at the lad and resisted the urge to roll her eyes. She turned back to C'noram.
"It's not terribly remarkable," she said with a forced laugh to hide her annoyance. Ues was feeling restless at the moment and wanted to seek solitude. She wanted to be away from all these men for a change.

C'noram noticed a slight air of restlessness coming from the boy, and decided to back off a bit and let him have his space. "Well, I'm off to the shore to let my own lizards get some fresh fish and let Elgrode have some paddle-time." He smiled and glanced over at his green, who was now lumbering to his feet and stretching. "And I myself need a bath." He chuckled. He began his walk toward the beach for the second time that morning, waving slightly and calling back over his bare shoulder, "You're welcome to join us if you like. I've my own private little cove hidden away from any view that you're welcome to use anytime you like, as well. Just send one of your lizards for my Moro, and he'll show you the way!"
As though on cue, Moro suddenly appeared next to C'noram's head with a slight pop, swooping wildly around the Dragonrider's head. C'noram laughed and waved his arm gently to shoo Moro off, but the little bronze fire lizard only clung to C'noram's hair tightly, chirping and pulling his human toward the beach. "Alright, alright! I'm coming!" He yelled, laughing and picking up his pace to a full out run.

"I think I'll just stay here. Thanks though, and have a good time." She put on a slight smile and waved as C'noram was dragged off by his fire lizard.
"Hey," she called mentally to Nicholst, "get the location of the 'hidden cove' from Moro. Don't let C'noram notice, and return to me here."
A few moment's later Nicholst return bringing with him various images, enough for Ues to figure out how to get there. It really was out of the way. Once there she'd have to alternate her fire lizards on watch shifts just to be sure...
She went back to her room to gather her personal bathing supplies and a change of clothing before slinking out cautiously. It took her a while to pick her way down to the cove, but when she was there she was glad she had; the view was breathtaking. Stretched out before her the vast waters with it's sparkling waves rolling into the soft sanded beach.
"Oh wow..." she breathed, feeling as though she never had before. The air was fresher here than anywhere else on Pern, Ues was sure of it. Ues and her fire lizards spent a time just basking in the beautiful scene, comfortable just standing there (or sitting perched on Ues' head and shoulders).
After a while the fire lizards darted off toward the water on their own accord leaving Ues to wander over to a lone tree to escape the heat. She'd let them have their fun before making them go on watch. She laughed as she watched them play and was greatly amused by the images they sent back to her.
When her lizards were finally done splashing about they returned to her eagerly awaiting petting. "I'm so glad I have you three..."
Four. corrected Peredith suddenly.
"Yeah four. I thought you were asleep," she spoke out loud even though Peredith wasn't actually with her, she knew he could hear her regardless.
You were having fun without me, despite the message's words the dragon didn't seem too bothered.
"Again, I thought you were asleep." She laughed lightly and sent Prinsaw to keep Peredith company and to give him additional mental pictures of the beautiful scenery.
Eventually Ues could no longer stand the heat and she decided it was time to strip. Being the most reliable she sent Nicholst to watch first. She neatly placed her clothing at the base of the tree, picked up her bathing supplies, and headed out to the water. The sand felt good between her toes, and even more so once she stepped into the water. It was very cool and refreshing. She glanced back toward her green fire lizard and laughed, Serember remained curled up in a ball on top of her belongings, always the comfort seeker...
"Oh Peredith," she sighed contently, "I promise to take you out here later. It is so relaxing."
Tonight? Peredith asked, although coming from him it was more of a demand.
"Sure! Why not?" Ues replied as she sank into the water fully, "It's so nice here, I'd love to see it in the moonlight..."
At the entrance to the cove blue Nicholst spotted something... He wouldn't be concerned with it until he could tell what it was. He had orders to alert Ues if any human was spotted, and he wouldn't jump to conclusions...

C'noram sat on a flat rock in the shade of some trees at the edge of his second-favorite cove, having given the use of his favorite to the bo- No, she's a girl..I must keep reminding myself of that...
In any case, he looked down at his lap, and the parchment that lay on a smaller flat rock that sat there. He read over what he had written carefully, thinking.
I see you decided to accept my offer after all, friend. It is no problem, you can use it as often as you want. Actually, I'm not sure very many people are aware of it. I know you asked your lizard to tell mine not to let me know, but...telepathy has it's downsides like that. In any case, I'm sure your Peredith would love to visit that cove at night; I assure you it's much more beautiful in the moonlight. If you'd ever like to, just give Moro, my bronze fire lizard, or Dorna, my green, a message through one of your fire lizards to pass on to me, and I'll set things up. I'm a trusted member of this Weyr, so most of my actions go ignored or overlooked. Just let me know, and I'll help you out any way I can...secret or no secret.
Sincerely, C'noram
C'noram pondered the note a while longer, then rolled it up and tied it with a green ribbon. He made a chirping noise to summon Moro over. He handed the little bronze the note, who took it in his foreclaws, and gave him his instructions, then watched, slightly nervous, as the little lizard popped between.
Moro exited between several meters away from the edge of the trees surrounding the cove, sensing the presence of the green lizard nearby. He crept, on foot, through the underbrush, moving slowly so as not to alarm his brethren. When he noticed the green perk up slightly in response to his movements, he came out from under the leaves of a huge fern and held out the note, communicating that it was to be taken to the green's human. Moro then went back to his beloved human to report success in delivering the note.

Whatever it was, it was gone and Nicholst had no time to investigate it.
At that moment Serember had received a letter and she dutifully flew over to Ues who accepted it with a confused look on her face. After reading it, she crumpled up the letter with distain and threw it into the water. "Shells... I can't do anything in private around her without notice can I?!"
Serember, unfazed by her owner's anger, crooned thinking it deserved praise for it's actions.
Ues sighed and reached out to scratch the little green under the chin, "You don't deserve favorite-spot rubbing right now...but... it wasn't your fault..." As if on cue one Nicholst appeared from Between right beside Ues. She cast a glare in his direction, but there wasn't any real fire behind it. "Idiot," she said and snatched Nicholst out of the air and dropped into the water carrying him with her.
A short time later a dripping Ues walked back into the Weyr with her fire lizards clinging drowsily to her for support. Head down she walked towards Peredith where he lay waiting on his bed. Once close enough she flopped down next to him almost upsetting the lizards and gave a heavy sigh.
"I don't know why you're so bothered," he said staring at Ues dully, "C'noram is a nice man."
"Well he doesn't need to be nice to me..." she muttered under her breath, "I don't get it..."
A few minutes passed uneventfully, Ues began to doze and eventually fell asleep, Peredith eased himself up without disturbing her. Normally he would sleep too, but something caught his attention.
